Harder Brothers Construction and Design was established in 2001 and

home construction and full home rehabilitations with a focus on thoughtful
design, the highest quality craftsmanship, and unparalleled professionalism.
Matt and Steve Harder pride themselves on their personal attention to
detail throughout the construction process as well as the high level
of organization and responsiveness they maintain at all times. They
consistently achieve their goal of completing every project on time
and on budget while amazing their clients with a beautifully finished
product for a surprisingly reasonable price.
Matt Harder became interested in architecture at an early age, creating
imaginative skyscrapers with Lego's and watching an almost unhealthy
amount of "This Old House" and any other show that had anything
to do with construction. He began pursuing his passion in high school
where he took every architectural drafting class offered and worked
summers with a local construction firm.
After High School, Matt attended The University of Illinois where he
graduated with honors to obtain his Bachelors of Science in Architectural
Studies. While attending U of I Matt worked summers at two great architecture
firms in the Chicago area and gained a great deal of knowledge both
in the office and at the many construction sites he supervised.
After graduating from U of I with honors, Matt obtained a position
as a graduate Architect at a high rise luxury residential architecture
firm in Chicago. While working alongside prominent Chicago architects
he helped to develop designs for spectacular residential towers, and
coordinated with several engineers, vendors, and contractors on a daily
basis. After leaving this firm Matt decided to engage in a more charitable
and hands on approach to architecture by volunteering his time to Habitat
for Humanity.
The summer of 2001 was spent in Alamosa, Colorado and the Taos Pueblo
in New Mexico as a volunteer coordinator for two branches of Habitat
for Humanity. Matt worked with several volunteer groups and local tradesmen
to build adobe homes for families in need while engaging in local culture
and tradition. This experience was an eye opener to both the need for
affordable housing and the great personal satisfaction obtained through
volunteering ones talents and hard work. After this experience, Matt
decided to pursue a career that would offer him a better connection
with his community and develop more personal relationships with his
clients. As a result Matt teamed up with his brother Steve and began
Harder Brothers Construction and Design. While running his construction
and design firm, Matt has also obtained a Masters degree in Architecture
from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Matt Harder currently lives in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago,
IL with his wife Lisa and they are currently expecting their first child!!!
Steve Harder grew up as the second child in a family of seven on Chicago’s
South side where he developed an interest in Construction at an early
age while attending Marist High School. After graduation he debated
his options between entering into the construction trades, or pursuing
his education. He decided to enter into college where his passion for
the construction industry continued. After two years at Saint Xavier’s
University, Steve decided to turn his passion into his profession. He
transferred into the school of construction management at South Suburban
College and began working with a commercial construction company.
Before establishing Harder Brothers Inc., Steve worked for three reputable
construction firms on several diverse projects including commercial
build outs, Chicago Public Schools, residential remodeling, and custom
homes. After leaving his last position as a construction manager for
a residential construction firm, Steve decided to establish Harder Brothers
Construction and Design with his brother Matt.
In order to help in the acquisition of development properties by his
company, Steve completed his Real Estate education and currently holds
an Illinois Real Estate Brokers License with Prospect Equities of Orland
Park.
Steve Harder now lives in Bourbonnais, IL. with his wife Jennifer and
two children Katie and Billy.
From inception to completion, the Harder Brothers thoroughly enjoy
